About Founder and Chief Instructor

Shihan Mohiuddin Syed is the founder and Chief Instructor of Lion Budokan Karate International (LBKI). With over 30 years of martial arts experience, he has dedicated much of his career to practising, teaching, and promoting traditional Japanese karate.

Throughout his martial arts journey, Shihan Syed has trained under experienced masters and grandmasters, continually developing his technical knowledge and understanding of karate. His commitment to ongoing learning has played an important role in shaping LBKI’s training standards and teaching approach.

In 2013, he established Lion Budokan Karate International in Auckland, New Zealand, to provide structured karate instruction and a clear pathway for student development. Today, LBKI operates in both New Zealand and Australia under his leadership.

As Chief Instructor, he oversees the organisation’s karate syllabus, instructor development, and student progression. His teaching approach emphasises strong technical foundations, disciplined training, and consistent improvement rather than focusing solely on belt promotions.

Beyond regular instruction, Shihan Syed has actively contributed to karate through seminars, workshops, and tournaments. He continues to guide the development of LBKI while encouraging students and instructors to maintain high standards in their training.
